The New Forest Dog
Bespoke dog art
-
How long will it take you to paint my artwork? This is dependent on how busy I am, and what the medium is. Larger oil paintings obviously take longer. I can give you a timescale upon quotation. Usually 4 weeks - sometimes sooner. If you need the artwork for a special date please let me know - for example a birthday, wedding or Christmas present.
-
Do you need to see a photograph of my dog before giving a quote? Not for a simple small head portrait. For more complicated compositions or multiple dogs, please contact me for a consultation as to layout.
-
Will the finished artwork be framed?Any delicate pastel artwork will be supplied in a simple oak effect frame with acid free biscuit coloured mount. Glazed with styrene for safety reasons, and with fittings - ready to hang. The gallery style chunkier dog portraits will not need framing. Oil paintings will be supplied unframed unless you ask me to frame at additional cost.
-
Will a finished oil painting need varnishing?Traditionally varnishes were applied to keep oil paintings protected from dust, dirt and smoke. Varnish provides a non-porous, protective layer - it serves an aesthetic purpose whilst also providing protection. If at all, I prefer not to varnish a painting fully with artist's varnish until it is completely dry, after at least six months. Upon completion I will give the painting a re-touching varnish (once touch dry) for temporary protection and advise as to whether it will require any further varnish once it is completely dry. The drying time will depend on each particular painting.
-
How will you deliver my artwork?I will securely package the artwork and deliver via fully insured Royal Mail. Prices for postage vary between £8.00 for smaller artwork to £20 for the largest. If local to the New Forest I may prefer to hand deliver at no extra cost. For European and International customers a quote can be given when size and destination is known.
-
What are your payment terms?Upon commission I ask for 25% of the quoted price as a non-refundable deposit. This is to secure my time and resources to the project. I accept BACS payments, cheque or cash. The balance is due once you have viewed and approved an emailed preview of the finished painting or upon delivery if I am delivering by hand.
